Photographer's Note
Rotterdam, Erasmus bridge.
Rotterdam - Erasmus bridge.
the Rotterdam Marathon took place yesterday and many thousands of runners took part to this international run. it was a beautiful Spring day and part of the route was indeed through the Erasmus bridge.
Although it is reminiscent of some Calatrava works, the Erasmus bridge (also called "the swan") is a project by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel and was inaugurated in 1996.
I took my picture last Saturday, as yesterday it would have probably been impossible to cross the city centre.
I found out that my old Heliopan polarizer still works fine :)

Hello Cristina,
A very attractive composition with dramatic contrasts between the shining bridge and the dark sky, as well as between the light and dark sides of the highrise buildings. It's a magnificent bridge which almost seems just as much made for the pleasure of photographers as for those who need to cross the water.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Cristina!
Hehehe! I am happy to be side by side with you today!
And once again, I can only praise your sense of abstraction, with a great sobriety in your composition, thanks to this secret and very efficient style you master, specially in black and white shots. I wonder if we could play some music with your drama queen, as in the film : "Sound of Noise" where acrobats terrorist musicians try to play on high voltage overhead cables with saws :) (By the way, you maybe have you seen that movie? ) Well, I imagine that here, the sound would be closer to a harp... :)Grandiose!
The framing is perfectly done to let all the space for the diva, with one third to the earth while the main part is for the sky... Music is played for the Gods ! :)
Congratulations!
Hugs

Beuatiful contrast indedd, as if the bridge's pole was lit on purpose by a projector.
It could easily used as a starship template in a sci-fi movie.
TFS.

Hi Cris,
Luck for me today. Two photography heavy weight champions are neighbors today. :)
Looks like a big instrument just being ready to be played. Perfect contrast and choice of tones. Great use of lines and geometry. The colors really distract from the patterns and architecture and you have proved it again with your fine presentation.
Have a nice time

What a strong contrast, Cristina, between the white ropes which sustain the bridge and the black sky. A very good architecture for a big harp, the sound should be terrible when the wind blows!.
Cheers

Cioa Cris,

Hi Cristina
yes, you are the master of black and white scenes!
this photo has so much dramatic effect! its wonderous and very striking.
the cable wires extend making it profoundly elegant.
and to cap it all off, you even have a bit of cityscape in the bg.

Hi my dear Cristina
A wonderful and admirable shot indeed!
An excellent presentation by well considered horizontal framework, so fresh B&W and very sharp focsuing in the details as usual. Above all B&W color contarst is outstanding and seems to be some magic!

Hi Cristina Im proud somebody like you is paying attention to the Dutch buildingstyle, the Erasmus ridge is certainly a piece of art.
This is well done with the B&W and extrem dark contrast,it gives also aa good viw on the skyline of the Maas-boulevard.

Bonjour Cristina
Bien cordialement
