Este altar est� localizado na Catedral Metropolitana de Santiago. A catedral � sede da Arquidiocese de Santiago do Chile e � o principal templo catico romano do pa﨎. Cerca de 64% dos chilenos s縊 caticos (2014).

No processo revolucion疵io, o Ex駻cito de Liberta鈬o, liderado por Jos� de San Martin , escolheu como protetora e padroeira da liberta鈬o da Am駻ica a Virgen del Carmen e jurou fidelidade.

Em 1923, por um decreto do Vaticano emitido pelo papa P卲 XI, os chilenos foram autorizados a cham�-la como "Padroeira do Chile." O texto declarou: "Virgem do Carmo, padroeira principal de toda a Rep炻lica do Chile, a concess縊 de todos os privil馮ios e honras aos principais clientes dos lugares de compet麩cia certo."

Em 2008, um homem com suas faculdades mentais perturbadas, entrou na Catedral Metropolitana e incendiou com uma vela a imagem da virgem, que resultou em grandes danos para a escultura. A imagem foi restaurada por especialistas do Centro Nacional de Conserva鈬o e Restauro (CNCR); seu trabalho durou cerca de um ano.

Hi Luis
i like this photo because of the subject material, but mostly because of the light/shadow contrasts. Its as if there's a halo up against the back wall, and the benches are darkened.
Yet, the middle portions are lit well, its quite a balance of darkness and illumination. cheers

Excellent picture of this altar in the Santiago Cathedral. Fine symmetry, I like the figure of Virgen in the triangular dress. Interesting note. Only 64 percent of Chileans are catholic? I thought that much more.

diferente o aspecto da imagem da virgem nesse altar, o manto parece bem grande e est� artisticamente enquadrado no altar que � bem bonito. lindos detalhes do interior e ima qualidade de imagem e nota. parab駭s. acho sempre curioso a maneira como os chilenos e bolivianos colocam bandeiras ao lado dos altares e imagens sacras.
