Columbia Center

With this photo I am saying goodbye to Seattle for now. It was taken on the evening of our last day in the city, when we visited Smith Tower and Canadian wildfire smoke still affected the skies over Washington State. This photo of downtown Seattle was taken from the tower痴 observation deck. Smith Tower itself is the oldest skyscraper in the city, the tower you can see here is the tallest skyscraper in the city: Columbia Center (933ft/284m). I have showed this tower before, along with its closest neighbours in this photo.

Columbia Center (formerly named the Bank of America Tower and Columbia Seafirst Center) was completed in 1985. At the time of completion it was the tallest structure on the West Coast, but it has since been surpassed by three other tower in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Hier zie je toch wel de Canadese bosbrandrook die het avondlicht een beetje tempert. Maar het zorgt ook wel voor mooi zacht licht en zorgt voor een rustige sfeer.

Hello Lars,

You had an amazing view of the city from this height and have been able to reveal how the skyscrapers relate to one another and to the ground plan. The buildings have excellent clarity and, despite the pale, pink hue in the sky, there is enough sunlight to create some fine reflections on the shiny exteriors of the skyscrapers.

A splendid bird's eye view over the city. The skyscrapers receding into the distance help give the composition depth and perspective. I like the soft evening light and muted tones.

What an amazing collection of skyscrapers huddling close together as to prevent each other from falling. Seeing a few persons way down in the street really underscores the tremendous height of these buildings. The evening sky has a fine tone and there are some nice reflections too.

Hello Lars!

This could be downtown Brisbane. All big Western cities are starting to look homogeneous. That said, I do like the high vantage point and the unusual design of the smaller skyscraper at left of the taller one with all the triangular shapes. Tfs!

if you look REAL close, there are many different styles and conditions of the buildings. some look almost new, some are in need of repair soon or look a little rugged. fun views of Seattle from here, I like this. cheers
