Waikato river #2, a photo from Central Plateau, North Island

Photographer's Note

Hello to my TE friends,
Sharing with you our longest river of NZ with 220 miles long! the word Waikato means "flowing water" from the Maori language! and the river is our main source of Hydro-electricity in the whole North Island of NZ!
Here you see some the landscape along the river in a hot summer day!
Hope you can enjoy the view and many thanks for your time!

Beautiful river with such a beautiful surrounding of vegetation, I guess it goes hand in hand, where there's water there nice vegetation, Duh. Beautiful light and exposure, to capture this landscape with perfect clarity and sharpness, the golden tone really addes warm and coziness to the place the ripple in the river is great with details and texture. A nice view with a beautiful harmony of colours, geen and warm colors. A good POV well selected too gives an interesting prospect effect with the tiver which advances in the image and invites to discovery.

The blue diagonal line of the river with the reflected skylight adds superb dynamism. Good colour, sharpness & saturation. The yellow green vegetation contrasts nicely against the blue, also. Tfs!

Riverside is also amazing like splendid sights of sea side of New Zealand. I'm impressed the clarity of you river scene under perfect management of light. The contrasts between blue colored river water (it's not possible in Suriname) and green vegetation are spectacular while yellow fields making your frame more rich. Hi Tony,

I love the greens and yellows of the gentle rolling hills .. you can feel their wonderful warmth .. wonderful blue water .. gentle and beautiful scene .. the exposure settings seem kind of strange (1/60 and f/2.7) was it that dim ? the f/2.7 didn't help the focus of the near riverbank .. still I am being really nit picky .. it is a beautiful scene .. very nice. take care, John

I guess the coastlines, rivers and beaches of NZ are very attractive to you that bring you out every now and then to shoot them. From your posts, I can see how the beautiful landscapes have given you countless subject shots to show us around with such fine colorful scenery. The rich tone of color in this scene is superb and really worth a visit to appreciate the natural attributes. Good work.

Hello Tony, I like the saturation of those summer colours in this shot, the greens, yellows & blues, the river looks fantastic & probably used not only for generating electricity but also for recreational activities, transport & drinking water ???.

I love how the blue of the river slices through the rich, green of the vegetation on a diagonal.

Composition which differs from your splendid seaside, but quite as beautiful. Beautiful photograph on this river and this undulating landscape in background. The natural colors and the light are well managed. It is very pleasant to look at. Taking into account heat that you describe us in your note, the water of this river was to be a true temptation !!!

I think the diagonal composition was a good choice, it makes the picture more dynamic which is anyway enhanced by the bushes and the play of lights and shadows on the opposite side of the river. An inviting and really nice landscape.
