Photographer's Note
Cappadocia is a volcanic area in central Turkey. It is renowned for its strange shapes, called "fairy chimneys", which are formed during millions of years of volcanic activity of three neighbouring mountains: Erciyes in Kayseri, Glldağ in Yozgat and Hasandağı in Aksaray.
Different layers in the landscape reflect different layers of volcanic eruptions, red of iron-based elements, grey-black of basalt, white of lime, etc.
The area harbors also many underground cities and thousands of churches carved into the soft tuff, which make Cappadocia a major historical and cultural heritage site.
Converted into b&w, applied retouches and gradual toning, increased sharpness & contrast.

I think the choice of the b&w is the right one, giving the graphism of this incredible place ... Good one.

Hello Erdem - Interesting to see the fairy chimneys in B&W. The shot works well as the tonal range reveals the shapes of the weathered rocks to a point where they become a series of repeating almost abstract shapes. Do I see snow on the ground? I would so love to visit Cappadocia in winter, I loved it in summer but in winter it must be an amazing sight. To my mind the shot needs a wee bit more contrast in order to give some black blacks and white whites but this is a matter of personal preference. Lovely original capture. Warm regards rosemary

Hi Erdem,
the famous Cappadocia, one day I will see it for myself. This is very unusually with snow and most of the time we see in color, so it is great to see your presentation, Love the foreground of this rock formaiton and the flat landscape above.
Excellent detisl and smooth curve of the formation and shadow play.

these slopes with curious shapes, mixed with snow, the flat hightlands above and the small details like trees created a marvelous compo. very nice idea to use the vertical format and B&W. TFS.

Cappadocia is high on my list of places to see, I have to say that all of the photos and documentaries I have seen so far give me the impression of observing a truly unique landscape.
the volcanic formations in this area lend themselves to graphic compositions and your choice of (warm) monochrome tones underlines perfectly the play between highlights and shadows. I like the vertical push given to the composition by the upward conical shapes, it is very dynamic and it creates a great tension between the flat, horizontal areas above and the one below.

Hi Erdem
I like the contrast between the pinacles at the FG and the flat country at the BG. You have included a lonely tree, well located in the frame. I like your delicate B&W hues.

Greetings Erdem!
Excellent choice to convert this image to B&W as it highlights those curve lines and details of this breathtaking image. I really liked the composition very much. Love the contrasting hemispheres of the image. That tree is such a nice feat. Very beautiful place. Great capture!

Hello Erdem
Quite a different view compared to the traditional Cappadocia picture. The black and white is a great choice as it really underlines the textures and isolates the patches of snow thus creating intriguing patterns. Your framing is also flawless, bringing depth and dramatic perspective. Congratulations
