Heldenplatz, a photo from Vienna, East

Photographer's Note

The Heldenplatz is the outer plaza of the Hofburg and was built under the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph, as part of what was to become the Kaiserforum (imperial forum), which, however, was never completed. In the northeast, it is bordered by the Leopoldinian Tract of the Hofburg, in the southeast by the Neue Hofburg, and in the southwest by the Ringstraﾟe, from which it is separated by the ﾄuﾟeres Burgtor ("outer castle gate"). The northwestern part, where there are no buildings, offers a view of the Ringstraﾟe with the Parliament, the Rathaus (town hall), and the Burgtheater. On the plaza, there are the two equestrian statues of Prince Eugene of Savoy and Archduke Charles of Austria, who are remembered as great military leaders. It houses Austria's unknown soldier.

Good sharpness with a pleasant diffused light & superb use of diminishing linear perspective. The bg bridge is appropriately positioned over the vanishing point. The people add scale. Have a nice weekend!

The view through the arch gives deepness. Even in the rainy weather, you have achieved good colors and sharpness. The people with umbrellas add life in this image depicting a very nice architecture and street view.

An another nice image of this beautiful city with a mixt well ballanced between ancient architectur and modern life. The coloured elements arise very well. FG very well balanced with the bicycl on the left nad the aldy with the blue umbrella on the right.

Hi Lakshmi,
in spite of the rainy day, you obtained a good result in this urban capture.
The almost deserted street, with few persons who are protected under the umbrellas, offers us an autumnal atmosphere, though it was last day of August.
The weak light gives a nice smoothness to the colors, in a good composition, in which we can see also the elegant architecture of Vienna.

Dear Lakshmi, very nice composition, there is many details but i don't get any disturb...everything is in the right place, nice scene and good sharpness...for shure the light is not the best...but you cannot do nothing...is the weather...Perhaps a B&W there was good, anyway very good shot, warm regards, valter

A very intriguing composition, the entire image is treated like wallpaper. And to it, you have placed an axial opening piercing through the entire photograph, creating a very deep space perspective which is placed elegantly off centered from the entire image. The atmosphere of the square is well presented, and the overall image is rendered with very natural colours. The photograph is very attractive, and the textures contained in the image are well distributed. I like the presented image very much.

The photo is OK, but this is not the Heldenplatz. Its the Michaelerplatz, corner of Reitschulgasse, left side of the Hofburg Gate - the fountain is called the Power of the Sea, and below the arcades straight ahead on the left is the Spanisch Riding School.
