Photographer's Note
Cheetham Wetlands consists of lagoons and saltmarsh of varying salinity levels created through the activities of a Saltworks that used to operate in the area. Deliberate creation of a number of relatively shallow ponds provides an environment which attracts many birds who like to feed on vegetation, insects, larvae and other small animals both in the water and on the pond floor. The Wetlands are protected, through international agreements, as important habitats for wildlife.
This shot was taken from the Wetlands, just before sunset.
Thank you Andrew (macondo) for organising this outing & Steve (SteveH), Kamran (kschanna) & Klaudio (daddo)for your company.
Not many birds but a good day had by all.
Thanks guys enjoyed your company.

Hi Santo,
Nice colours in both the background sky and the tree in the foreground. Good composition with a nature scene in the front but also including a cityscape. Good choice of framing with the maroon lines complementing the tree. Thanks for sharing!

I know Werribee quite well because It was the first place where I lived when I arrived in Australia almost 22 years ago. I still visit friends in Werribee every time I go to Melbourne. However I never went to the coast where you had the chance of this beautiful shot. I really like the warm colours of the afternoon. Well done and thanks for this excellent POV.

Hi Santo, looks like you are the first off the mark with this shot. Great colours in the sky, which reflect well what we actually saw. I like the composition with the tree filling the frame and the eye being drawn to the city on the horizon. Cheers, Steve

Hi Santo,
Was this the 'one last photo'?...The colors are amazingly beautiful and you framed the cityu quite well while including the trees in the frame.
It was a fun day indeed with a lot of shots of the city. Inadvertently, the city kept on proving to be a good point of interest.
Thanks for sharing

What a light, and what a colours!
Really a smart composition with the tree filling most of the photogram and the city in the background. It conveys a sense of distance and space, yet our eye is attracted by those marvellous trees. Well done.
I was wavering about which one of your latest photos to vote, then I decided to vote both because they are both so fine.
Best greetings,
Donato

hello Santo
One thing that is sure to be interesting when a group of 5 with different makes of camera go out at the same location to shoot; the question will always be who shoots what and a comparison of the shots. Not so much as who is better, but it may perhaps be whose photo generates favorable feedbacks - because the scenery is the same, light condition is the same and all being same in the equation, the variable in the game is the photographer! On that basis it is fun to find out the variable's characteristics. What say you? It will be interesting to see what your group post.
Coming back to this one. Quite to my liking that the city is placed off limits as being visible but just rising above the horizon. If I say the tree is very interesting, then this shot will not be good without the city skyline. And vice versa because the skyline is too small to stand out. Put it together, then the warm light adds a special flavor to the tree as well as the skyline, with a topping of the some faint color tone over the skyline. And I can perhaps say this perspective of Melbourne is not found anywhere else in photography books or websites [am I bluffing?].
Beautifully filled up to the edge with this tree [I might crop the top sky to just touch the tree like you did at right but it wont make much difference to the attractive picture]. I find the exposure on the FG lawn is just right. With this, now you have a draw card for Melbourne.
Greetings from Borneo where the rain matters.

Hello Santo,
excellent shot of the Trees! I am impressed by their shapes and colour!, and, in general, of course, by the colour gamma of the whole image.
How curious: such huge majestic trees in the FG, and tiny skyscrapers very far in the BG! What a juxtaposition!..
Kind regards,
Elena

Hey Santo,
Great evening (?) lighting. It gives the tree some very special coloration. The looming Melbourne skyline in the background is as always an impressive sight, even when 35 km in the BG. Great clarity and colors. TFS.
Best regards.

Ciao Santo. A daring shot in its balancing act between the importance given to the city and the trees. The evening sun has melded the image nicely in terms of colour, light and mood. Well done with your "last shot' of the day. Bravo giovannoto. Klaudio.

Hello Santo,
It's amazing to see the highrise buildings in the far distance, behind these majestic trees. The way they have grown the have come together to form a very nice triangle. The light falling on the trees, and on the city, is superb.

Ciao Santo,
hai avuto proprio una bella idea...
Impressionante il contrasto che hai inventato, con l'albero grande in primo piano e i grattacieli, piccoli, sullo sfondo.
Ottima luce e ottima nitidezza.

Hello Santo,
A very unique perspective of Melbourne with nice warm lighting at the end of the day. Someone commented before that this kind of typical Melbourne light is weird but I think it is superb. I like the spread of branches of those trees in the FG, captured with just the right exposure, adding tremendous sense of depth to this view.
Take care

Hi Santo.
I thought I'd already commented on this one but it must have been Klaudio's!
Anyway, with two similar shots up, I'll hold my version or perhaps upload it to TL. Mine was a little more like Klaudio's than yours. I suppose we all thought these shots would be the best for the day because of the pink glow, the glinting buildings and the last light on the trees' branches. You did very well with this one; I was too keen to get in closer to the buildings with the long zoom. The composition is nice, with the tree filling the sky. The sunlight falling on the leaves and boughs is a delight. A very pleasing result, even without any birds.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Santo
I like this larger version of Klaudios' photo. The tree seems to shine like copper and I the twisted form is so attractive. The city skyline creates an attractive background.

Hi Santo,
yesterday my wife went to see the movie "Australia" with Nicole Kidman. One day we wish to visit this extraordinary country. You had a great idea here with nature dominating the town's skyline.

Hello Santo,
On the thumbnail I saw a picture of trees and when I open it it's a nice surprise to find a city under those trees and this in a splendid sunset light.
Also on the trees the light is very beautiful and the picture has a good composition.
Well done.
