�Noto Cathedral�

Noto is one of the most important baroque towns in Italy and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Typical of the late-baroque buildings of this city is the honey-coloured stone.
A good example is the Noto Cathedral (Cattedrale di Noto or La Chiesa Madre di San Nicol�) of which I present here 3 pictures.

Before 1693 the town was located a few kilometers more north-west but in that year an earthquake destroyed the city and Noto has been rebuilt on the present site.

The construction of the cathedral began in the early 18th century and was completed in 1776.

The picture is taken on the rooftop terrace of the Chiesa di San Carlo al Corso.

Hello Paul,
You have a great POV in this photo. The color of the stone and style of architecture are beautiful. I also like the large staircase. It doesn't rise very high, but it creates a dramatic effect.

I told you so, didn't I? ;-)
As for the photos this place makes me think of Latin America. Maybe I am just ignorant of Sicilian architecture. This is a magnificent view anyway, including the impressive staircase which seems to underscore the importance of the church fa軋de and the impact it is meant to have on the visitors. Three good photos, all carefully taken, but this one no doubt offering the most astonishing view.

The 2 horseshoe shaped yellow green rows of trees contrast well with the blue sky to give a nice warm cold color contrast. I like the elevated vantage point. Tfs!

wow this is quite an impressive cathedral and yet I have to admit I see it probably for the first time.
Great elevated POV to present it. Fantastic light and pleasant colors.
I will try to remember that when I plan my trip to Sicily someday!
