Dear friends of TE, I must always back to my archive through my long disease, I cannot to the city or the nature.
Maybe next week can I use my bike, but with short distances, back to the open air, and maybe back to the dancing school, but very quiet.

The Graslei is a street in the historical center of the Belgian city of Ghent. The Graslei is the quay on the right bank of the Lys. The quay and street on the left is the Korenlei. It lies between the grass Bridge and St Michael's Bridge in.
From the 11th century the growing trade along the quays and this became the city's harbor. St Michael's Church and St. Nicholas Church came from both sides of the Lys near the port created. Because of the grain pile right of the city, it happened all imports of grain in the County of Flanders and Ghent via the Grass and Korenlei were combined with the Korenmarkt the center of the grain trade in Flanders.
The current building is still a remnant of the time, already been adapted several buildings in the 18th and 19th centuries. For the World Exhibition of 1913 in Ghent facades were thoroughly restored. The cityscape of the Graslei and Korenlei was protected in 1952 as a landscape and in 1994 the two quays, their environment and the adjacent buildings were also protected as a cityscape

Dag John,
Ja, dit prachtige weer hebben ze hier voor het weekend voorspeld, maar vooralsnog moeten de wolken worden weggeblazen.
Dit is weer een schitterende foto met het verdwijnpunt geraffineerd net rechts van het midden.
Al die toeristen die heerlijk in het zonnetje zitten en lopen maken het een extra aantrekkelijke voorstelling.

I would have recognized this as your photo even without your signature. The architecture is familiar, the good quality is your trade-mark and the long perspective with perfect depth is also very typical of your compositions. Hi John
I think people watching can be so fun here and there's much detail to feast the eyes along the canal basking in glorious summer sunshine. There's lots more to see
particularly the famous architectures and richness of the scene, but the man in orange walking into the frame has especially caught my attention for some reason popping up to anchor the focus lending the strong impact. It kind of sums the place up for me. Very enjoyable with human interest, Congrats and tfs

Dag John,
Deze foto past uitstekend bij de eerste warme dag van 2016 in Nederland. (En daar ligt Gent toch niet zo ver vandaan) Het kwik kwam vandaag voor het eerst boven de 20 graden. De lucht was wel minder onbewolkt dan op deze foto. Mooie impressie van de stad. Ook laat je zien dat toerisme een factor van betekenis is.

for some reason this is reminding me of Copenhagen, just without the bright rainbow colors :)

this must be a peaceful place to just sit down and enjoy the day, take in the city views, take in the quite atmosphere and go home with fond memories. What's not to like right?

Hello John,

As always, a very well chosen aspect makes excellent use of the features as guides and creating a wonderful sense of perspective.
The people, sitting on the wall, relaxing and eating ice creams, gives a very relaxed mood to the scene in particular and the city in general.
The light is very favourable so that shadows and reflections enhance the scene.

Hello John, I hope you will fully recover very soon and you can go by bike or dance. And always a great pleasure to see you archive pictures. What a great sunny day here, the people just sit on the stone bench and relax. Splendid old building but I see here also on the left newer ones. Fantastic perspective. Our eyes are led along the canal to the rather strange building and behind it the castle Gravensteen.

Hallo John,
Al een echte zomerse foto, te zien aan de kledij van de mensen en aan de stralend blauwe lucht.
Een goed standpunt van de camera, redelijk laag bij de kade zodat het water ook binnen handbereik lijkt.
Een foto met veel diepte en met veel ruimte tussen de mooie architectuur in zodat veel bezoekers er van het zicht en van de zon kunnen genieten.
