Photographer's Note

As promised today I show you some shots from the Muscat fish market. The photo I show had little color and so I ventured a black and white. In the WS two other classic scenes, a market with really fresh fish but still a little distant from the European hygiene standards.

Come promesso oggi vi mostro qualche scatto dall'interno del mercato del pesce di Muscat. La foto che mostro aveva poco colore e cos� ho azzardato un bianco e nero. Nel WS due altre scene classiche,un mercato con pesce davvero fresco ma ancora un poco distante dagli standard di igiene europei.

Good idea not to use color touch but to to use monocro, I thnk your choice is quite suitable at thi situation. A little over exposure is based on your taste?

Hello Luciano, It is indeed a bit far from the European standards. I love fishmarkets as we hve no such markets in Poland. Interesting picture and a funny title.

Hello Luciano,
I can assure you this fish market looks VERY MUCH more sanitary than the dusty outdoor fish market I saw in Al-Mukalla on the Yemeni south coast. All photos are excellent, but the main one is a superb double portrait of man and fish. They seem to be looking at the same thing. I wonder what caught their interest? ;-) This has probably gained a lot from going from uninteresting colours to very good B&W.

ciao Luciano che bel bianco e nero ,e quelle mani da lavoratore meritano rispetto! se posso muoverti un appunto..io avrei aspettato che dietro non ci fosse nessuno, infatti i banchi nel bg fanno delle bellissime linee parallele..pero' forse non era possibile..

Luciano, excellent focus on that senior vendor holding a beautiful fish. Perfect sharpness, he was maybe shy to pose for you or was attracted by something else around him. Excellent presentation.

I liked the two versions. they have the feeling of the local daily life. I guess in morocco it was much worst in terms hygiene. curious fishes.

Fish markets are top spots for photography.
It looks like this fish is anxiously watching the hand that's holding it.
Clearly the most suitable picture to serve as the main photo here.
Excellent composition with the man looking into the direction in which he holds the fish.
Furthermore, this fish market seems to me to be very modern.

Three beautiful pictures with fish in the lead role and a very justified choice for the picture in the lead role.
Although I usually do not prefer black and white, it is a fantastic choice here that makes the photo very special.

The w/s show us the larger view of the market but this close-up does much more.
I just love how the fish seller is looking in the same direction and with the same expression as the fish! It's like a statue!!
It really is a very well composed and exposed photograph.

What I like about this double portrait is that the man and fish are looking in the same direction. I also like that the man is wearing traditional clothes. I like the choice of B/W for this shot. The second WS photo is very bloody, and I'm sure the fish market didn't small very good either!

I"m not a lover of fish, I don't eat it. However i do appreciate a good fish photo hahaha. The WS #2 is a great visual as well. Its cool to see the wrinkles on the man's fingers, and its funny how the man & fish are looking to the right hahaha. good textured shot, hard to get a shot like this in the market - he was a perfect subject

Actually, what I have seen in the WS photos is much more hygienic than what I would imagine for Oman. Of course, I was there about 25 years ago.

This is a beautiful photograph of the old fish seller with his fish. Very well rendered in black and white with excellent sharpness. I really liked the tight cropping that fills the frame. The WS pictures give us insight into the local life of Muscat.

lovely reportage from the fish market.
The main photo has the advantage of being a portrait as well. The man seems to have an interesting face and hands full of experience. The fish contrasts somehow with the view.
I like even more the scenes in the workshop showing the customers behind the counter.
