Photographer's Note
Double Moonbow - dramatic lunar rainbow at Victoria Falls
A MOON TOUR NOT TO MISS!
This is not a classical rainbow but a huge double Moonbow at victoria falls. This unique event, is visible the day before, the day of and the day after the full moon. The light of the moon is refracted through the mists that rise up from the base of Victoria Falls.
The lunar rainbow is best seen at times of high water Jan to July : the months of March, April, May, June and July are ideal as clear skies are normal and the waters have subsided.
Photographically the moonbow is best taken from the Zambian Side March-July.
Two locations noted for their frequent moon bow observations are Kentucky's Cumberland Falls and Africa's Victoria Falls. There, the bows form from drops in the waterfall mist.
Victoria falls: Latitude: 17ー55′28″S Longitude: 25ー51′24″E.
The picture is a bit blurred because of the long-term exposure (even with a tripod) in the mist. When the picture was taken I was totally in the mist and I could not see even see the rainbow. This is the beauty of long-term exposure! Of course the side effect is the blurred.

Bonjour Michel,
Amicalement,
Delphine

Hi Michel.
Firstly, let me say that I am in disagreement with Delphine.
Second, the picture reproduces a fantastic phenomenon and, until today, unknown to me.
The composition is superb. Just the foreground is a bit blurred because you used long exposure and probably you did not have a tripod.
Photo posting on TE must not be a stupid competition.
You have proposed a beautiful natural phenomenon.
Thank for sharing

Hello Michel,
what a show!
Besides I really like the rainbow and the silk effect achieved with a long time shutter speed.
My compliments

Bonjour Michel,

bonne journ馥

Bonjour Michel
F駘icitations.
