Photographer's Note
Bangladesh remains the most interesting and photogenic country that I have ever visited. The last time was in 2015 and even then our presence as westerners caused a stir in most small towns and villages in which we travelled. Here in the busy morning market with all the toing and froing we managed to stop everyone dead in their tracks as we approached. There is always someone who speaks enough English and brave enough to approach and break the ice with the crowd.

Hello Elaine,
This strongly reminds me of my visit to Bangladesh in 1972. I had similar crowds following me almost everywhere, regardless if I had my camera out or not. There was never any hostility, just overwhelming curiosity. I like this very much, including the monochrome presentation.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Elaine,
This is a very interesting photograph and perfectly reveals the atmosphere that you suggest in your title. The b& W details are extremely crisp.
Thank you for explaining how you were able to communicate, I often wonder!
I enjoyed studying the clothing of the many figures, (almost entirely men). What an eclectic mix! The one that stands out the most is the man in the f/g wearing traditional sandals and colourful 'skirt', covered by a puffer jacket!
Thank you for sharing this,
Bev :-)

Hi Elaine
This is as dramatic as a movie that captures the feel of rural Bangladesh where there's the sheer human interest and wealth of detail. Great facial expressions all of them were more interested concentrating on the stranger photographer and there's enough story in the photo itself. It's all good and if not a story it tells us a lot as well as simply pleasing the eye. They are at the heart of the composition for me! Wonderful piece of photo journalism....
Best regards

Goedemiddag Elaine,
Een mooi maar merkwaardige foto door de kledij van zowel vrouwen dan mannen.
De nieuwsgierigheid geeft u de kans om een perfect beeld te nemen, wat u ook gedaan heeft.
Mooi samenstelling van de groep parochianen .
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Hello Elaine,
I have the impression it was very cold that day.
Yet everyone wears sandals and not stockings.
But everyone seems to be feeling cold at the head and they all put their hands away too.
I never wear a hat or gloves in winter but can't imagine walking around in sandals.
Beautiful group portrait where the biggest attraction turns out to be the photographer.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Elaine,
You certainly got attention there. And on this case it was to your advantage. You captured a kind of group portrait without need of arranging anything. It would be very difficult to guess the era of this shot. Actually only technical quality of the photo gives a hint that this is from the last decade.
