Photographer's Note
A few people having a chat, or just resting their legs, outside a shop in Trongsa town in central Bhutan. Although Bhutan is a normal, modern country in many ways, certainly no stranger to new technology, the compulsory traditional clothes and traditional architecture sometimes make the country look like a giant outdoor museum.
This is a scanned Kodachrome slide.

OK, you got me, compulsory traditional clothing? For who? Everybody?
The shot is very good but fot the wall that I think is too hot. The people there could be the characters from a novel or a movie, they are really a mix, and the woman looks stunning. Good capture.

If it is a scanned slide, the photo does not show it here and it is all the more valuable ! I like to watch the various persons sitting on the bench, they seem so peaceful and there is an air of normality in this view - like it a lot !
Best regards (and thanks for your visit),
Cath.

hi GH,
chatting or gossiping, it doesn't matter..you well captured the right moment of these guys "chilling out". the rattan baskets to the right added the charm.

Hej Gert
Nicely captured scene. I like it not only because it shows us how the people there look like and live, but also for showing how similar the people all around the world are. I can imagine shooting similar scene in Europe.
Apart from their clothes and architecture, that is ;-)
This time you could easily cheat me, the quality of this picture is really good for the scan.

Hello Gert
A slide scan from this century and thus the quality is very good. I like the detail of the people and their traditional clothing, the elaborate window frame and the baskets. Well done, Marlene

Hej Gert,
... I'm looking through some older posts again...
I especially like the way you depict people in your photos! Very interesting scene :) It's nice to get to know some more details of a distant life.
In this photo there is a funny mixture of various characters, clothes and moods!
Good, interesting composition. I am also impressed by the ornaments on the window!
best regards,
Elena

Hejsan Gert,
great daily life shot from a far away place. Bhutan seems to be a kind of Shangri-la in westerners eyes. Although I don't believe in such legendary stuff I would like to see it with my own eyes. If travelling there wouldn't be so extremely expensive.
Regards,
Roland

Hi Gert
Lovely daily life image and, as you say, it does look like a shot from an open air museum.
I went there 9 years later and Trongsa looked pretty much the same as in your photograph.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Gert,
This is a familiar photograph, so it's interesting and impressive to see the natural spectacle about which local residents wearing the traditional/colorful clothes sit on a bench and are chatting. It's interesting in the design of the building which appears like a souvenir shop in back, too. And, two big bamboo baggages seen the right side draw out a pastoral image in this area. Well captured and excellent tone/clarity.
Kind regards,
mikio

Hello Gert - I think I mentioned once before that, for me, visiting Bhutan was the realization of a dream. The 3 weeks spent there was too short and I would love to explore further eastwards.... perhaps one day.
This is a typical DL scene and one, I suspect, that will become less and less common as the country opens up to the world. A shot that makes me want to book my trip!
Warm regards Rosemary

Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Lepi prozori i detalji, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa ljudima koji odmaraju na klupi.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija dobijena skeniranjem slajda.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje.
