Zili Village Reflections, a photo from Guangdong, South

Photographer's Note

Another view of the Zili Village mansions, this time reflected in a fg pond. I would imagine it woud look nice in summer with the flowering water lilies and emerald green rice paddies. I visited the central building and walked up the stairs to the rooftop terrace.

Hello Chris,
I had to look at your earlier photos from here to refresh my memory of these strange buildings. They were clearly built by new-rich who wanted to live in palaces but didn't quite make it. They are a treasure trove for photographers and created fantastic reflections in this otherwise rather dull looking pond.

Hello Chris,

I enjoyed following your link to research these properties. It was an eye-opener to learn that they had originally been protective, as well as homes. What a pity they are no longer occupied! Unoccupied buildings deteriorate more rapidly!

Anyway, you have recorded their very distinctive style in this nicely composed photograph. The reflections are an added bonus.

A nice view of these four blocks of houses and the photo offers a clear view of their details and design. The reflections in the calm, yellowish water are well included in the background.

Well, Chris, we cannot choose best weather when visiting a place especially in winter.
Nonetheless, the outcome is fairly well presented, contrast from the pond with reflection against the buildings in the real view and a distinct clarity.
