Photographer's Note
Recent upload of Lars inspired me to Pick a shot of another huge cable-stayed bridge. This is Stonecutters Bridge connecting mainland to Tsing Yi island on the route to Lantau and Hong Kong International Airport. The span of 1018 m makes it the fourth longest cable-stayed bridge in the world. Height of the bridge towers is 295 m. Stonecutters Bridge was opened in 2009.

Hello Kari,
Yes, I immediately saw the link to Lars' recent photo.
Taken from a very good point.
Beautiful with the many cables and with the mountains visible in the background.
I wonder where the lanes in the opposite direction are located.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Kari, I wonder how it got its' name?
An impressive shot; did you take this through the window of a vehicle?
It's good that we can see the mountains in the background through all the cables.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Kari,
This bridge has great impact from the viewpoint which you have used.
The strong verticals tower above the bridge and I love how the smaller verticals create a pattern, almost like a stitched pattern!
It is an unusual name as it doesn稚 seem to be made of stone.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Kari,
A fine POV from the middle of the road towards the rods, cables and pylons of the bridge.
Somewhere in my gallery there is a picture or two of these set of connecting bridges from 2009 visit to HK.
Clear photo outcome, cheers,
Ike

Hi Kari
A very impressive bridge and you've chosen a spectacular (and hopefully safe) view point or was it taken from a car?
cheers

Hello Kari,
Like Lars you managed a sharp photo through the windscreen of a moving car. The bridge has many elegant lines, but I also find the green and white elements on the bridge and beside it quite eye-catching.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Kari
ya i agree, these large cable bridges can make for interesting photography. yours is an abstract type of shot, not the postcard type - one isn't better or worse than the other, its just a completely different style. I like this one, the tall lines, the horizontal lines, all intersecting each other, it works so well from a visual standpoint. love it
cheers

Hello Kari,
It looks similar to the Rio Bridge near Patras in western Greece. Good sharpness and perspective and a rare blue sky day. Nice repetition of the support cables. Tfs!

Hello Kari,
Wow, what a fantastic bridge and I am glad my picture gave you the inspiration for posting this one. The cables in the foreground frame the other tower and its cables so well. The steep mountains make a great background as well.

Hello Kari,
The modern cable-stayed bridge is usually extremely photogenic but often difficult to photograph.
If you want to photograph one, you need to provide a clean windscreen of your car and quickly take some photos. Parking options are usually not available.
With this excellent photo you have been able to capture the composition with the many cable wires.
Excellent work
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hi Kari,
The lampost have a graphical effect. The point of view is show2ing the details of the architecture of the Stonecutters bridge. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
