Rituals for the Dead : This image was captured at the Mullick Ghat near Howrah Bridge by the river Hooghly.In this image you can see two brothers performing Rituals as per Hindu beliefs to please the departed soul of a relative.The Puja is conducted by a Brahmin Priest in presence of other male /female relatives of the deceased.

Hello Farhat,
It's nice to see you back after a long absence. Your street views from Calcutta bring back a lot of sweet memories to me. This is a tender scene from a sad but important event in these persons' lives, captured at a moment of interaction between two of them. The postures of the women in the background are quite telling. The photo is full of interesting details and the mild colours are very pleasant.

Hello Farhat,

A superb daily life scene from India and the weather appears hot. The ladies seated at the back look bored and disinterested or perhaps they are listless because of the summer heat. Then again this is a funerary right so maybe they are saddened by the loss of a relative. Tfs.

hello Farhat, Very interesting note and photo of this sad rituals. In Varanasi it was forbidden to take pictures. Also the women could not take part of the ritual. Good photo composition with many details to see.

Every religion or sect has their own rituals for that matter, this is a mild scene, to my humble opinion, they merely offer food to the ghosts.
Fine taken moment, faces expression and the gesture.
