Photographer's Note
Amritsar, literally a Pool of Nectar, derives its name from Amrit Sarovar, the holy tank that surrounds the fabulous Golden Temple. First time visitors to Amritsar could be forgiven for the impression that Amritsar is like any other small town in northern India. But Amritsar stands head and shoulders above any other city, its status elevated and sanctified by the presence of the venerable Golden Temple.
Located in the heart of Amritsar, the temple complex is surrounded by a maze of narrow lanes, or katras, that house one of the busiest markets in India. But the Golden Temple is a serene presence, radiating a calm that makes people bow their heads in reverence. The gurudwara, as Sikh temples are called, is the holiest of Sikh shrines. It is not just Sikhs who travel to the Golden Temple to pay homage, the sacred shrine is equally revered by Hindus and people of other faiths who, too, make the pilgrimage to offer prayers at Harmandir Sahib.
This Picture is of the entrance to the main Gurudwara thats at the center on the Sarovar (Lake). I make sure I never miss the opportunity to pay my Homage when ever I visit Amritsar.

You have captured very good detail here specially on the golden arch way. I would suggest gropping a little on the left. The sadows are very wionderful as is the composition. You may also want to rotate the photo to straighten the strucutre.

Yes, very clear focus on this one, and great colouring once again.
I agree with the crop and rotate.

Harpreet, When I travelled near amritsar decades ago, We were originally scheduled to visit this temple but unable to because of various political reasons. I always missed it ever since. Thanks for bringing it to my desktop.

A more straight on perspective would be better, I would crop the photo on the right and left as well as the top to get rid of the ugly grey wall as well as the pipes and only show the gold. That would also get rid of the arm of the person in the left corner. I think it would make this a better photo.

Harpreet, A very beautiful architectural presentation. Your photo is very good including the colors of forground and background's fog is also giving a nice & cool feel. It surely presents devotional & emotional attributes of the place.
