Photographer's Note

Here are three photos taken during my boat trip with Kanhayi (you can read about my encounter with Kanhayi in the note to this upload: https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo1601084.htm)

I am fully aware that this image is unlikely to make it to many TE members' favs' collections and most of you will prefer one of the two WS shots. But I decided to be brave. Originally, the idea was to crop the top off to create a colourful abstract but as I was preparing it to upload it to TE, all of a sudden I thought: "This looks Picassoesque". So decided to have some fun and leave the legs in. What do you think?

To co zobaczylas z lodzi i utrwalilas na zdjeciu robi niesamowite wrazenie!
Kadr i kompozycja robia cala robote.
Podoba mi sie naturalne swiatlo i kolorystyka.

Hello Kasia,
I like both pictures in the WS very much. The second one is a splendid photo of daily life in Varanasi. The first one is indeed a bit an amusing view.
But for me your main picture is the best!
It's also a bit funny and also shows the daily life on the ghats.
I wondered how a more tight cropping would look like. I mean a closer view of the stairs with the clothes and below a little more cut off and above without the legs and feet.
But perhaps others may just find these legs an indispensable part of the photo. I was just wondering.
In any case, it is a photo that I would like to take myself.

Hello Kasia,
At first I was delighted to see a photo full of human presence, but without humans. Then I was even more delighted to discover the legs at the top of the steps. So whatever you may think, I will add this to my favs. It's a composition I would have loved to make myself. I like the WS very much too, actually the picture of the old man better than the more conventional ladies. Don't certain birds sometimes stand on one leg like that man? Storks?,

I like the legs! For me they really make the composition. They are all walking in the same direction, and one foot is up for each pair. :-) The colors of the clothes on the steps are great, too. This is a clever and fun view. Take care!

Ciao Kasia,I agree with your choice for the main, three really high-level photos, the cut was decisive in the main one and in the first WS, while the second is a classic and traditional composition. Great capture, both of the clothes hanging out to dry and of the man alone, great class in showing local scenes of daily life. Have a good night and thanks,Luciano

Hi Kasia
There have been plenty of photos on TE of the washing being done in the river at Varanasi (as in your WS) but I can't remember seeing one of the clothes out drying - the clothes make a great photo. The other WS of the man standing on 1 leg is also well captured.

Hello Kasia,

We sometimes see photographs of washing on washing lines posted on TE but this is so much more fun! I am so glad that you retained the passing feet, it is almost as if they are pounding the water from the garments ... though, of course, if that were true, the garments would need to be washed again!!!
The garments are producing their own dance routine along the lines of the ghats!

Your w/s are equally interesting and fun. The flamingo pose is very Gandhiesque!

Splendid capture from the river boat. I don't know how clean they might be after washing in the polluted Ganges, hope they were upstream from the cremation ghats!! Imho, even without those legs, this pic still works very fine, Congrats.

Hello Kasia,

If a washing line is missing, use the stairs, especially when it is clean to dry the laundry.
Of course your two pictures are a nice additional, the picture with the women, suit perfect by the washing on the stair.
An excellent composition, nice presentation too.

Witaj Kasiu, Juz byłam zaniepokojona,m że sie długo nie pokazujesz. Bardzo zabawne zdjęcie. Te w Workshopach sa tez dobre, skrzyzowannie jakiegos guru z flamingiem i kobity nad Gangesem, ale są zwykle. Tu natomiast te r�żnokolorowe gacie są wyglądają atrakcyjnie. Zawsze sie zastanawiam, jak można prać w niezbyt czystej wodzie, suszyć na kamieniach i mieć potem czyste ubrania.
Bardzo mi się podoba.

Hello Kasia,
A cool photo with all those colourful items of clothing put out to dry on the steps here. Also the feet of several passersby in the upper part makes a great detail. Well spotted.

Trzy bardzo ciekawe scenki. Nie jestem pewien czy da sie je polaczyc w jedna historie. Czy to sa ubrania tych kobiet? Rozumiem ze poszly sie kapac w rzecze? Ale co robi ten pan? :)

these three images are fabulous and I think this area is a nice place to find thousands of perfect images with unusual scenes. I liked the main post, the colors and position of the clothes are fantastic and I liked the legs above, I would like to include a little more of those legs, but it is amazing anyway. I liked a lot the last WS, fabulous photos, as ever.
