Poor scan from Sensia, then cropped slightly, adjusted curves and sharpened.

You've picked a good title for this image, her eyes are bright indeed in contrast to her grubby clothes which tells a great story. Perhaps - as you say -a poor scan to have a grainy look.

she has wonderful eyes ! there is a big difference between her face (beautiful smile, soft skin, lighted color, no dust or buttons, and a beautiful jewelry on the nose)and her hands (faded nails color, dust, skin which looks "ruined" and not soft at all)... you may say I'm a girlie girl saying that, but you may admit their is a big difference between her wonderful face full of feminity (what I call feminity is humanity pushed to its best -yeah... I'm a proud woman ;-) - ) and humanity (what I call humanity is a mixed of love, compassion, mind, soul...) and her hands, which, at first look and without looking at the other parts of the photo, could be the "hands" of any non-human being of the world, a beast which have to fight strong to stay alive.
Knowing that these hands are hers make me love your photo even much: she is a very strong/compationnate/clever human being.
your photo wouldn't have be the same if you had cropped the hands.
The only "bad" (not that bad, in fact) point: just above her hand, there is something white on the ground which is a little disturbing. You might have darkened it a litlle.
Sorry for the bad English.

I like this image very much, you're right about the eyes but I also like the detail in the robe, using a larger aperture to throw out the background really enhances that detail.
