Night puja, a photo from Uttar Pradesh, North

Photographer's Note

We took a boat at sunset from the ghats and were rowed into the middle of the Ganges, where leaves holding our candles and petals were produced and the candles lit by one of the boatman. We released them into the river and to see about a hundred of these little lights floating down the river as the light faded and a flock of birds flew over the boat was a special, sacred moment.
Scanned from a Sensia slide. I had to crop quite a lot to remove dark areas, and used Neat Image to remove some of the noise.

Hi Brian,
A lot of noise in this, understandable when the light is this low but still a really nice shot. I love the concentration on his face, completely absorbed in what he is doing. Nice shot and note, thanks for sharing.

a very nice photo. except the saturation and your effort to clean out the image, the beauty of the image still stands out.

Hi Brian, your final results look very good here. I like the noise/ grainy look, as it emphasises the colours and lights. There seems to be only 3 colours here, quite a wonderful look about it. TFS
