Photographer's Note
Continuing my series of Zatra Festival, I'm showing you a man preparing sugar cane juice, in the paddy field in front of the temple.
The juice is extracted from the cane by pressing it through iron rollers. It is nutritious and refreshing.
It contains about 15 per cent natural sugar and is rich in organic salts and vitamins.
Sugarcane juice has many medicinal properties. It strengthens the stomach, kidneys, heart, eyes, brain .
In hot summer days, it forms a soothing drink. A little lime juice or ginger may be mixed in the juice
to improve its flavor.
In the WS you can see a closer view of another sugar cane stall at the same venue.
Hope you like it...

The workshop picture with the sugar cane pressing machine is very interesting. A similar method used in the country where I was born. I also like the original version because of its colorful nature. A rustic, simple way of life with people who still in the midst of poverty, seem to enjoy life to the fullest :-) Nice work Marilyn.

Hi Marilyn,
Wow, so much to look at in this one....as it should be when one enters a local festival.A nice display of daily life and the daily hardships of the people - I agree with Robertos POV in his comment.A good idea to add the WS as it makes a whole picture.Good work and TFS.

Bonjour, ch鑽e Marilyn,

Bonne journee,
Jean-Yves

Marilyn bonsoir.
J'ai autant appr馗i le WS que la photo pr駸ent馥.

Hi Marilyn,
Your photo has included an interesting shot and notes. I was thinking how he’s squeezing the sugar cane then saw the powered press in your workshop photo. Your photo is an excellent documentary. Congratulations.

Bien cordialement,
