Photographer's Note

This photograph was taken in Toneri Park in Tokyo Adachi-ku. Toneri Park is a general park of the metropolitan area for which has the plottage of 68.8ha and is provided with the nature of pond, open space, a bird sanctuary, etc. Toneri Park was utilized as an air defense green tract of land and a local resident's health and health in 1940 prewar days. While preventing overcrowded-ization of the residence by preparing a green belt within a city area after the war, it was re-fixed in order to aim at improvement in a local resident's living environment as a tree planting city park. Once, since it was far from the railroad station, there was only bus in access. But, the monorail of Toneri Liner starts business now, and access from the center of Tokyo became easy. By the way, it was raining on that day. The angler put the simple chair on the shoal of a pond, put the colorful umbrella and was hanging down the long pole. Seemingly, a black bass can be fished.

It seems that eager amateur anglers can get very excited about their hobby. This man looks a bit fanatic, but he gave you a very good and amusing photo. His blue and yellow umbrella brightens the view on this dull and rainy day, and you have placed him well towards the side, facing the centre of the composition.

I think he is so dedicated avid angler, be it rain or no rain so fully engrossed with his task awaiting for a big snatch there perhaps. But but he also has become the victim of your keen eyes. Interesting daily life, good placement with yellow colour of the umbrella stands out helping the eye to settle in on a moody ominous grey surrounding. The water reflection equally demands some attention too with its lovely silvery ripples that complements the shot attractively. Photographically a success capture
