Photographer's Note

Toneri Liner is a guidance rail type train line which connects Nippori Station in Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, and Minumadai-shinsuikōen Station of Adachi-ku, Tokyo and it is operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation. Business was started at the end of March, 2008. It has 9.7 km in full length, 13 stations, and connects its area in about 20 minutes. On the way, it passes through the Sumida River and Arakawa. The background which was able to do this train route is because the traffic congestion with them which has many amounts of passings of large-size cars, such as a truck continued in this area and the on-time transportation of the city-operated bus became difficult. So, this route was made as the dissolution measure. This route is an elevated orbital train line, and is running by the automated system operation of a five-car formation. I use this route when going to Toneri-kōen, and this photograph is taken from platform of Toneri-kōen Station.

Hi Mikio
I always find these rail lines interesting from a visual point of view, doesn't matter which city or country.

I guess its the boy or man in me, all the mechanical pieces and of course the fast speed of the trains.

Superb arrangement with excellent details. The train is in very good light, very good clarity. Excellent arrangement with the train in FG and the railway track with the town buildings in BG. Nice light & shadow play.

Hello Mikio,
This is a fascinating photo of not just the local train, but just as much of the construction of the rails and bridge and all the equipment needed for the traffic. It's a very complicated system that we are looking at. I also like the small green signs found here and there and the very pleasant light of late afternoon.

Good evening Mikio,
A crisp sharpness and light managed, the coming train on the upper tracks above city skyline, had given a good dynamism to the photo.
Fine DOF and clarity, shadows gave yet another purple tone mingle with the grey concrete built structure.

Perspective is key in this picture and I think that you've managed to capture the divided up feeling that the train, platform and tracks provide. The line of platform edge I am particularly pleased with, a pretty good composition captured from a wonderfully advantageous point of view allowing one to capture as much of this great scene as possible. It looks like it was early morning as the warm light is lovely with emphasis on soft shadows and excellent highlights. Wonderful clarity and interest in depth. A well captured shot, Congrats

Not only do I like photos of vehicles in general, but also this cute train #14 in particular. The geometrical patterns and shapes are interrupted by a bit of nature in the right. Well seen and immaculately rendered.
