Photographer's Note
Tokyo - Temple roof
What I致e always found particularly attractive are the designs of the roofs of Japanese temples, pagodas and shrines. Also the many decorations we find on these roofs and often the red colour of the wood.
In particular, the view from below of the overhanging part of the roofs I find very attractive.
The three pictures here are of different buildings in the Senso-ji Temple complex in Tokyo.
More information of this temple can be found on:

Hi Paul. A very original approach with this symmetrical and visually imposing composition thanks to which we not only are able to admire the details but also can marvel at the grand scale of the temple. even though we cannot see the whole, what we can see hints at both solidity and elegance. Best wishes. Klaudio.

Hi Paul,
A great photo to accompany your note, nobody cold argue your sense of appeal in these structures when looking at a shot lke this, it looks as much like a work of art as a building. Really great choice of view to take this, the central composititon is perfect and the red wood on blue blue sky is something I always find really appealing. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

Hello Paul,
This is an attractrive composition with great symmetry and crisp, clear colours. As often in Asian religions the swastika is a frequent symbol. I think the Nazis used it the other way around (perhaps the smallest mistake they ever did).
Kind regards,
Gert

A superb composition, with this close-up of the corner eaves of the temple, an image with attractive graphics and you've captured with perfect symmetry. Fantastic range of colors which gives much strength to the image.
Excellent resolution and very good approach.

Dag Paul,
Mooi gedaan, bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,
John.

Hi Paul,
Although I find myself being more interested in "people pictures" these days, I can't overlook this beauty! No surprise you would find the detail, color and design of this so attractive, as do I...and I really like this given presentation. It's often difficult to resist including the entirety of the subject, but you've proven how effective it is to concentrate on smaller portions. And for someone like me who loves pattern and shapes, this is perfect! :) Great approach to this composition and isolated section of the rooftop. Enjoy the rest of the day. Take care.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Hello Paul,
The red pagoda roof of this Japanese temple contrasts superbly against the bg blue sky, with good sharpness enablig us to clearly pick out all the ornate sculptured details in the roof such as the Buddhist sign resembling a reversed swastika. Nice repetition of patterns and shapes. Tfs!

Hola Paul
Good note and WS to on with the capture
Lots of times , a detail could be more more interesting that the whole building, as happens here in your close, eye catching capture
Well done, kind regards
Maria
*First time I saw the swastika was in India, asking about it, I was told it comes from Iran (Persian people), so not only now is time of globalization !

Hello Paul,
the designs of the Japanese temples have a very special charm, they are elaborate, harmonious and elegant. I like and enjoy the graphical impact of your composition very much. The interaction of lines and colours is lovely and captivating as the dynamism of the image seems to be constantly renewed. One of the repeating decorative patterns hasn't good connotations for me but maybe it has a special significance for the temple's tradition. Sharpness, lighting and colour definition are marvelous. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hi Paul
A very picturesque roof it is and wealth of multi-colourful architecture of such complex carving and shapes. You have succeeded in forcing the eye to fully focus on the essentials with this crop, and what a contrast to blue sky - jaw-dropping! A pleasant image so well taken, Congrats.

Hi Paul,
I have heard that swastika is still a popular symbol in India, I see also in Japan. In Europe the symbol has been taken over by Nazis and it will be always connected with them I suppose.
Nice focus on the detail of traditional roof.
Good colors and pleasant for the eye geometry.
Very well done,
M
