Photographer's Note
This photograph is taken from a high school student's Kyūdō convention in four years ago. The contestant wore thick white shirt and a black hakama(Trousers
), and they had released the bow towards the target 28m away in an order from the left, being lined in a row wide. Behind, the players who shoot next were standing by. It is the sport game which requires concentration fairly. And, it is the game which succeeds the tradition of the Samurai age like kendo.
(p.s.)
Kyūdō, literally meaning "way of the bow", is the Japanese art of archery. It is a modern Japanese martial art and practitioners are known as Kyūdōka. This kyudo is taught at some Japanese schools and some traditions refrain from federation membership. Game population is presumed to be about 130,000 people in the whole country.

Hello Mikio,
This is an elegant composition in well chosen B&W. There is a fine regularity in the men's postures with only the one in the middle lifting his bow. The mixture of light and dark clothes gives the picture a fine rhythm.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Mikio,
I love the elegance, dignity and control of these young archers, or Kyūdōka. Their uniform is beautiful. The arcs are impressive and are much more harmonious than the modern competition bows in the West. A very nice picture quality. Bravo.
Have a nice day
Best regards

Hello Miko,
I like the way Japanese treat sports as an art-form right down to the disciplined of the dress code. A country with such a high pride of culture. This is a nice shot depicting the situation. Thanks for sharing and kind regards,
