Photographer's Note

Here is Jinbōchō in Tokyo Chiyoda-ku. The agency of many bookstores and publishing companies, and a publication wholesale store carried out the whereabouts to this area. And, about 170 secondhand booksellers are built and located in a line with it in Yasukuni street and it's back street. Here are known as Tokyo's center of used-book stores and publishing houses. Books of all genre such as a novel, a technical book, and a comic magazine, are placed at shop. This area has many universities and vocational schools again, and is functioning also as a student town. As history with many bookstores, Shigeo Iwanami who was a school teacher opened the antiquarian bookshop to the burnt remains burned down by the conflagration in 1913, he also made a publication sale, and stored a great success. In order for a lettered man and a college student to visit Jinbōchō by Iwanami's success, store establishment of an antiquarian bookshop, Tokyo-do, etc. continued to and it offered the place of reading for customers.
