Photographer's Note

This photo is one that was taken at the Tokyo station yard. Tokyo station is in communication in Kansai, Tohoku, Hokuriku area not only Kanto neighboring prefectures as entrance of train station in Japan. The station was strong image of transportation hub, before. However, in recent years, it looks function as changed dramatically. Nowadays, there are a lot of specialty stores in the station yard. Mainly dining options amd souvenir shop, there are a kiosk, cafe, fashion shop, general store, bookstore, a pharmacy, etc. And, the ticket gate outside, there are a department store, hotels, and commercial facilities etc. It seems to be the one city. Probably, it would have aimed at the effective utilization of station yard as the complement of transportation. This place is the "South Court" located to first floor of JR Tokyo station yard between the Marunouchi South Exit and the Marunouchi central Exit. Here is open for 2010 and it seems to be the food floor of a department store. There are 31 stores in about 1,300 square meters. The many passengers focusing on the woman before going home were doing shopping in here. I took this photogrph ay waiting time with a friend.

I like very much how you've composed and framed this picture making it solid and comprehensive and establishing a well defined setting for the people. There's great naturalness in the colours, the flowing movement and the attitudes of the people. You've handled the lighting excellently, frozen the action and yet kept the impression of fluidity. I have always known that Tokyo is a very busy city ... and this photo tells the story so well ..... people on the move.... coming or going !!!!!!
Nice shop and nice uniforms.
The photo is well taken....... because of the POV. we can se the interaction between the shop and the customers.

A superb light management indoor's, Mikio, and good clear image.
The scene show nicely the tumult around stations, people rush to their destinations, while some have time to buy something for the journey.

A very interesting image - A few years ago I had the privilege of visiting Japan & what I was highly impressed with - was - the quality & variety of the food - the packaging & cleanliness is outstanding...
I imagine that this lady in the forefront of the photo has spotted something that she will buy.

I think it's a global trend to attach all kinds of restaurants and shops to railway stations to attract more customers and to make train-travelling seem more appealing. This looks like an interesting place where I would love to go browsing among the delicacies. You have captured a good and active atmosphere in a pleasant light. The lamps over the counter provide depth and also look good.

Not only in Japan train stations become more and more like shopping malls, this can be observed everywhere these days. And why not, commuters often don't have the time for leaving a train station for shopping and as they wait for their trains the time can be used for the necessary shopping.
The crystal clear sharpness of this indoor shot is amazing.
