Photographer's Note

Here is another falconer to go with my earlier post. I agree with Roland (Guzman) about the flat caps. It's interesting that the Japanese falconers where traditional Japanese dress, yet all of them sport flat caps that any Yorkshireman would be proud of.
Also, note here too that in Japanese falconry the bird is perched on the left arm to free one's (usually) more dexterous right hand.

Japanese culture and the culture of Britain are mixed! And they match well. It is a good expression of man and a hawk :)

A great capture of the man and his bird. They seem to look at the same thing, thats fine. The light and DOF and sharpness and framing is tops, the only thing that could be better is the white thing in the back.

Glad you posted this martin for others to enjoy, the capture as you know from my previous comments has a almost 3d movement feel about it , I am expecting him to take another step at any moment the great dof being the main reason that it works on that level, the white back drop doesn't really effect viewing as the power comes from the falconer in this case, ...ohh....tradition... cloth cap and shoes...simple marvelous. great shot and a pleasure to view

I love their firm standing and the way they look in the same direction.

Nice composition. Good DOF but the white part distracts my eyes. It looks like a part of the pic is missing. Good shot Martin.

Ther are pictures that definitely marks them as an identifiers of a certain culture or zone. This is one of them. The expression, the posture, the face. Very good, and well captured moment.
