Photographer's Note

Here is a view of a Japanese cherry tree. This is the 'Sakura' that Japanese people revere so much every Spring.

This is a view of a 'weeping sakura' cherry tree in the grounds of a temple in Ichikawa, near Tokyo. I took this on Sunday when the weather was absolutely gorgeous. There were lots of people here, but the cherry tree took centre stage. Here you can see lots of people looking at it, or taking photos. the guy in the black suit had just taken a family wedding shot. Unfortunately, I missed it.

The big thing to do is to find a spot of land, lay out your picnic and have a good time. This is called 'Hanami', and if you're in Tokyo anytime over the next week or so, head down to Ueno Park to see it.
