Photographer's Note
I liked the simplicity, yet complexity of this window in a Japanese home of around 300 years ago. This was taken in the Open Air Folk House Museum, Ikuta Ryokuchi, Kawasaki City. Houses are brought here from around the country, and preserved how they originally stood.
I set the Auto White Balance on my EOS 10D to 5500K to ensure I captured the warmth I was feeling from this wall.
(Thanks for the advice Fred, Luko, Viviane and Cedar. Reposting following your comments. I played with curves a little and dropped the brightness by ten and raised the contrast by eight in PhotoShop. I'm not sure whether I prefer this to the original. What are your thoughts?)

I prefer this one- the colors are much warmer, the texture comes across stronger- it works for me!

Definitely an improvement! I love the texture of the wall, and the warmth of the shot. Well done :-D

I think I never saw that you made a re-post of this "old" one. ;o) - [Almost 2ス year later than last comment]
This version is very bright and warmer than the original - [Yes, Cedar knew what she was talking about!] - And i still want to know what is behind this fence...
Friendly greetings - Amicalement - Viviane

Hi Martin Bailey,
your composiotion is interesting because there is no amazing sharpness on the picture but still are many details. Window isn't in the centre of picture but for sure is the main subject.
It is just wall from 300 years ago but so , so , so interesting.
Congratulations
