Photographer's Note

I have been to Kiyosumi Garden from the morning after a long time. It is one of the gardens which I like also in a metropolitan area here. This garden is a stroll garden which has arranged the artificial hill and the noted stone around a pond. It is supposed that it was a mansion of Kinokuniya Bunzaemon who was a wealthy merchant of the Edo period(16031868). It went into Meiji Era(18681912) and crossed to the hand of the Mitsubishi zaibatsu(a financial combine), and development of the garden was started, and was used for the purpose of guest entertainment. Then, in case of the Great Kanto Earthquake(1923), it became neighboring resident's evacuation area and many human lives were saved. And then, it is presented in Tokyo, general public presentation is carried out, and it has continued up to now. When I visited here in winter season, it had disappeared today although the gray heron and the egret were able to be seen inside the garden. Today, spring warm weather returned and green inside the garden was very dazzling. In the pond, the species of the spotbill duck and tufted duck were still able to be seen. Moreover, many tortoises were sunbathing pleasantly on the rock of the pond. It was a humorous spectacle to me. I was walking along the surrounding promenade of a pond slowly. Cherry petals already fell and instead pine tree showed bright green. A lot of men and women who wore kimonos and hakamas were taking the commemorative photo at the lawn in front of the Taishō memorial hall which would have a tea party or a commemorative ceremony today. I was there for about 2 hours, and went back my home before noon.
