Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in the residential street of Minami-Ōtsuka, Toshima-ku Tokyo. I was taking a walk towards Ōtsuka Station on that day from Sugamo. On the way, it is an average residential area and the narrow alley peculiar to the center of Tokyo is complex. In a metropolitan area, such a vacant lot is seen in this way in some places. Probably, the former residents move, and it will be made a vacant lot in this way after it destroys a previous house and until new buyer reaches a former site. It's strangely fresh for the wall on a boundary with the building in character with the apartment currently built back. The stray cat was loitering around vacant lot. It was a day of the cloudy sky.

Hello Mikio,
This is an interestingly composed and nicely cropped photo. Nearly everything is grey and most lines are very straight, going in different angles. The inclusion of the cat adds a soft shape, another colour and life. I find this an original composition.

Hi Mikio,
A very interesting photo. I like the cat on the ground and the repeating patterns of the front of this building. I think a bookmark type crop that cuts everything to the right of the windows facing us would be just fine.

Another adventure of a town scene with a story, an interesting shot keeps grabbing my attention showing your good awareness of the neighbourhood, You have seen the subject and captured it as the cat adds a bit of life in a grey muted day with good detail highlights. Excellent perspective too I thought it would make an interesting different kind of image and the technique works well. I love the contrast provided by the white building. Congrats
