Photographer's Note
This photograph is taken in Ameya-Yokocho in Tokyo Ueno. Ameya-Yokocho is the shopping center extended about 400 m along the bottom of elevated and the elevated bridge west side in Yamanote Line, JR East between Okachimachi Station and Ueno Station in Taito-ku, Tokyo. Historically, it began as the black market and the stall in 1946 just behind the end of the war. There were many candy seller shops those days, this name was born by its reason. So, ame means candy. Then, the time changes and the candy seller shop became the confectionery wholesale store, the cosmetics store and treated high-class imports, such as the fountain pen, the perfume, clothes/shoes and a clock. And then, it came to treat, such as the fresh fish, fruit and marine products as dried seaweed. It is the unique shopping center also in the Tokyo downtown area which has left a crowded atmosphere after the end of the war even now. So, there are the small store of about 400 in this narrow alley. Here looks like shopping center where it is popular and a life breath is strong in all. It could be said that these features differ greatly compared with the Ginza shopping mall. The oysters of the product from Miyagi, Hokkaido and Hyogo were sold to the store.

Hello Mikio,
Great contrast of white red over blue.
Shining light on the blue table-covers made a fine eye catchiong element, while not so necessary looking at the oysters...or smell...
Fine clear shot.
Have a nice wekk ahead,
Ike

Hello Mikio,
This is a mouth-watering photo of the various kinds of oysters. I can't say whether they are cheap or expensive but they would certainly be worth a try. You have taken a nice snap-shot from the shopping-centre and also show us three fine workshop photos.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Mikio,
This is so sad for me to critic on seafood photos's as I adore all kinds of shell fish & crustaceans - sadly, I am allergic to such delicacies of the ocean.
Your notes are very interesting & I love the ambience of market places.
Kindest regards,
Dawn.

Hello Mikio,
Nice close-up of the oysters on display for sale. It is good that we can see the expression on the seller's face. I would bet he's thinking, "Why is this fellow taking a photo of my store, aren't there better things to photograph?" Believe me, been there, done that! Only a photographer understands...
