Photographer's Note
Tokyo - Shinkansen
On TE we see occasionally a picture of a steam train. Recently on one of Beverley's pictures.
That reminded me that I also had a train picture I wanted to show already for a long time but for some reason I致e always postponed it.
However, not a picture with the charm of the old steam trains. But a tribute to the Japanese high-speed trains that take you in no time throughout the country.
Most high-speed trains in Japan are white. I was lucky to find a red train next to a green one.
From Wikipedia:
The Shinkansen (新幹線, new trunk line), colloquially known in English as the bullet train, is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan operated by five Japan Railways Group companies.
The original Tōkaidō Shinkansen, connecting the largest cities of Tokyo and Osaka, is the world's busiest high-speed rail line.
Carrying 151 million passengers per year (March 2008), and at over 5 billion total passengers it has transported more passengers than any other high-speed line in the world.
The service on the line operates much larger trains and at higher frequency than most other high speed lines in the world. At peak times, the line carries up to thirteen trains per hour in each direction with sixteen cars each (1,323-seat capacity and occasionally additional standing passengers) with a minimum headway of three minutes between trains.

Hello Paul Seeing this shinkanzen in miniature I thought that it was the solution of the mystery where were mixed feelings. But still, it is an archive picture. Strange that they are in different colours and so close to each other. I used these Japanese trains extensively, I had the Rail Pass. These trains are fantastic. Recently I went by such trains in China. The difference is that in China they go for a longer distances, in Japan I had to change trains. But in China there were no such signs on the pavement, where the queue is.

Hello Paul, I take it that this is not the newest high speed train?
Only yesterday the new high speed train was mentioned in our news.
They are really fantastic pieces of machinery.I like the composition with the two trains filling the frame.
Regards Jean.

Ciao Paul

Hello Paul,
This is once again not the photo I had expected, but it's nevertheless a very eye-catching picture of the elegantly designed and well polished trains. The strong colours and the diagonal composition make this a very appealing photo.
Kind regards,

Hello Paul,
This is so different from my contribution!
This is power, sleek in every way!
I like how you have cropped it, as if to define its shape.
It is streamlined and glossy, so different, in fact, from the train in the b/g and light years ahead of my steam train!!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Paul
These trains really move fast. OI have taken several of them across Japan but like you say the colors are not especially common and here we have both red and cyan, perfect opposites on the color wheel. Tfs!

Dag Paul,
Goed foto werk, bedankt
Groeten uit Oost Vlaanderen,
John

Hello Paul.
Wow ...... a sensational photo, both for its creative POV, and for its colorful that gives a fantastic chromatism, the two parts of the ultramodern trains, with the other more conventional we see behind, create a more extraordinary beauty .
Very well presented with this wide frame in black, it goes very well.
Nicely both the sharpness and the lighting are great.
Well taken photo. I like it
Enjoy a good day.
Very best regards.

Ol, Paul!
As formas desses trens s縊 bem estranhas, mas n縊 deixam de serem interessantes. Acho que estou acostumados com os trens totalmente retangulares daqui. Eles s縊 brilhantes e possuem cores bonitas. Boa composi鈬o.
Parab駭s!

Hello, Paul!
Really a modern one here, and its curves and reflections on it make the image very attractive! I wouldn't say it was a train if I saw it out of context... Very useful note about it too! Excellent job!

Dag Paul
Schitterende artistieke foto, mooi werk

A striking composition of this high speed train. You have captured it very well with a nice angle that gives a fine perspective. A fine combination of red and green. Very cool shot of this streamlined train:) Thanks.

Hi Paul,
wow this is such a futuristic view! Without the train at the back I would struggle to guess what this picture presents and I would rather bet for some sort of art installation rather than something so useful.
Fantastic geometry and colors. Nice are also the reflections in the smooth surface of the trains.
I suppose most people travel to see some old architecture while travel to Japan may be offering something quite opposite!
Fantastic reportage,
M
