Photographer's Note

This is a view of the Olympic Arena in Tokyo. It was designed by Kenzo Tange, who is well known around these parts for designing the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building among many others. It was completed in 1964.

I took the shot yesterday whilst enjoying the amazing weather. It was around 27C which is fairly unusual for this time of year. In fact today, it's back to the more usual temperature of 16C. Anyway, this shot was taken around 4pm, so I managed to catch the last of the sun's light.

Hi Dan, interesting shooting angle here close to the ground, the building too looks interesting, the light on it is good and you caught here a great number of curves, I like it !

The clear sky is a perfect background for a geometric compositon like this. The low sunlight enhances the lines of the building and creates strong contrasts. Nice piece of work!

The low angle was a good choice giving depth all the way from the paving stones. The reflected light is a bit hard, a softer light had been easier to handle. But who can wait for another light? - this is after all travelpictures ;o)

An interesting angle and a well illuminated shot. You have brought out the sweeping curves of the building well.

Very nice photo. Beautiful reflections and textures. The very low point of view is very impressive here with these brick textures leading to the sweeping curves of the stadium. The curves are made even more dramatic like this and in this light. It is an impressive stadium captured in a very impressive way that accentuates the architecture very well. Great job.
