Photographer's Note

This picture is of the annual Firework celebration over the Zushi bay, near Kamakura.
Fireworks or Hannabi, that痴 what they are called in Japan are held all over the country during summer months.

This picture was taken using Bulb mode. To get the multiple busts, I used a black cardboard to cover the front of my lens after each bust as finished. Thus I was able to avoid capturing the falling edges of the busts. When the next cracker was shot, I would remove the cover to capture the bust.

I went early and took up a good spot at the beach. It was a nice day but there was forecast of rain. Keeping my fingers crossed, I waited for the show to start. Unfortunately, after a few busts, the rain came down, and within few minutes, it started raining heavily.

I could manage few, balancing my umbrella and my camera. I didn稚 want to damage my camera so had to give up. My friend who was with me wasn稚 so lucky. He had to send his camera for repair the next day.

This year I went fully prepared with all the rain gear, it didn稚 rain, not a drop. I will share pictures from the year later.

I see many fireworks pictures cropped to show only the burst, I didn't. I wanted to see the full path of the burst, I hope you like this.
