Photographer's Note

This geisha was going about her business in this subway exit tunnel sometime very late at night. I just shot the pic, but later I thought it can symbolize the dichotomy between modernity and traditional ways in Japan. I added a blueish, steely tint to emphasize the cold sterility of this passage.

the perspective is so good, like pulling me deep into the tunnel... and the geisha is like travelling in time indeed... coming from the past and hitch hiking for the future... a real good job christian, congrats...

Fantastic perspective here - everything is very well placed. The lines and lights with their repetition really draw the eye in. It looks very futuristic courtesy of the steely sterile tint, which works very well.

The blue tone has worked well to give a colf feeling to the shot and th econtrast between the modern subway and the geisha is well captured. Great perspective looking down the tunnel and nice reflections in the floor and ceiling.

A fantastic shot - the black and white works perfectly - especially with the tinting. For those of us who have never been to Japan, but have this image of Tokyo being crowded there is a nagging question - how did you get this single person shot.
