Photographer's Note
Kyoto, Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine.
one of the most photographed sites in Japan is surely the gallery of orange torii (the traditional Japanese gate at the entrance or within a Shintoist shrine) lining the footpaths that goes up the Funari hill. Emka (Malgorzata) posted a photo of this famous and rightfully scenic view a few days back.
any light will do at Fushimi Inari - sunshine or rain, the atmosphere is such that you will have to stop and contemplate the long trail of orange gates...
when I visited this shrine a few workers were tending to the torii, refreshing the paint and redoing the writings in black.
true precision work - another aspect of that dedication and attention to detail and perfection I have found in many objects, actions and gesture of Japanese daily life.

Ciao Cristina. Fine photo showing concentration and ultimately respect for one's heritage. The amount of continual restoration and money involved is astounding. One can be sure that many of the ancient temples, shrines and bridges will last for centuries more.Excellent light on the face and hand. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Cristina!
A beautiful close-up portrait. Very original photo in my opinion, with enviable clarity of detail and perfect colors. Of course the shiny pole grabs us, but then we are led to the man's intense expression. Very well done with perfect light coming in just where it is needed. Fine work, warm regards,
Steve

Inspirational note, as always, coupled with an interesting pose of a perfect timing. The only suggestion would be to avoid the bar on the left, but I wonder how. .-)
TFS.

Ciao Cristina, Haha, it is funny for me when I recognize the same places and motifs. I think I saw the same man making his presision work on the torii in Fushimi Inari. Great photo, and this one should be in colour:) I like the very attentive look of the working man.
Warm regards

Interesting one again Cristina. What I like most here is the expression of the man, concentrated on his work and that's why the title is well choosen. I would have prefer maybe another background but you couldn't choose ;)

HI Cristina,
fine attitude you've captured here. One can see he's concentrating. One thing though...the bit of ladder on the left-hand side gets in the way in my opinion...
Best,
Philippe

I absoluletely adore Chinese characters, Cristina, so you bet this one caught my eye. Great composition. The big red part (with the red character) goes really well with your trademark black frame here! Another good thing here is the eye of the kalligraphy master, perfect side pov & great light.

Hello Cristina,
There are some great colours and contrasts here. The black writing on the orange, the orange against the blue, the blue against the white. And then the intense concentration of the man's eyes and the way he holds his pencil.
A really fine shot.
Best regards,
Gert

Ciao Cri,
Buona giornata

Hi Cris,
Nice work. I love the framing specially. An artist taking a picture of another artist. Its nice. The colors are matured and deep. Somehow I don not find the log on the left a bit distracting. Only a personal opinion.
Have a nice time
