Hello Stephen,
I remember these dark clouds over Kuching, but I don't remember the buildings. It's a well exposed photo with a quietly dramatic atmosphere.

Oh, I really like this!
It has the subtle qualities of a painting!
The light has such a large part to play, casting repeating lines of light and shadows on the water, matched by the colours in the sky.
You have composed the scene well, the boats occupying two-thirds of the scene and the other third, more open, to guide us inwards.

The length of the river is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The cloudy sky and the light at dusk is giving darker colours. Have a nice day.

It's a great photo of the city and river at dusk. The low light creates a beautiful mood and the small patch of light in the sky adds a wonderful contrast. The composition is very well balanced between the river and the town.

Even as light condition were not best possible, the sight is intriguing me to go and prepare a WS with higher illumination curve. Will post only if you will allow me, Stephen, you would be surprised how beautiful the place is, and how "golden" water appearing under the sun reflection.

It may be that my screen is darker than yours, but once I copied this image and pasted it into PS Elements and adjusted the lighting, voila, I could see all the interesting details.
