Photographer's Note
This beautiful building is the Tengboche Monastery, nestles high in the Himalayas at 3,867m altitude. It can be considered the spiritual centerpiece of the Everest Region, where Buddhists gather to take part in holy ceremonies. The monastery faces the mountains of Lhotse, Everest and Ama Dablam, situated directly behind me. The slate-like stones shown to form a wall here are Mani Stones, which are each inscribed with the chant (mantra) Om Mani Padme Hum, words of praise to the Buddha. This monastery burnt to the ground in a catastrophic fire on January 20 1989 (the day I was born, co-incidentally), and was rebuilt in the same likeness. A beautiful place.

Hi Matthew!
You're right, this place must be really something!Guess it's the first time I'm seeing it, I guess I'd remember these stones! I like this architecture a lot, it reminds me of Chengde, in the North of China! And you found a great pov to show the place. Colours, sharpness and dof are very good also!

Magnificent compositon, love the snow peaks on the backgorund. I would have enhanced the saturation a bit so as to give an even more magical atmosphere to the photo.

Hi Matthew
Lovely composition. The sharpness and the vivid color has really come up well. The structure of Monastery has came out well against blue sky. Liked the way you took the Chorten along the side of the main Monastery.
Regards,
Lopshang.

Matthew,
This is a nicely composed shot of this interesting architecture. The diagonal created by the mountain leads the eye to the buildings nicely. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness. The deep blue sky proivdes a great backdrop for the shot.

Hello Matthew,
you were lucky to have had such sunny weather in Tengboche! When we were there, there was absolutely dense fog all around and we did not see anything except for the closest yaks...
Good work, Ivana

Hello Matthew
Much belated wishes for your birthday! Hope you have a great year ahead
Nice picture of the Tengboche Monastery, well balanced in composition between the chorten on the left & the monastery building on the right, bridged by the wonderful peaks in the BG. Colours are good...IMHO you could have used a bit of 'curves' on the Mani stones in the FG as they border on OE...very difficult to expose on their light colours.
Otherwise a fine picture with good documentary value!
Best Regards
Angshu
