Photographer's Note
Sagarmāthā is Mount Everest, the tallest and most famous mountain of them all. This incredible peak stands at 8,848 metres and has grown a few inches since this photo was taken nearly two years ago. The mountain tops to the immediate right of Everest are Nuptse and Lhotse (the 4th tallest in the world), which are all connected to Everest via various ridges and cols. This shot was taken from the top of Gokyo Ri, itself quite a tall peak (at 5,357 m it's higher than Mont Blanc) but a small fish really with these neighbors. Everest from this profile roughly shows the ridgeline which makes up the political border between Nepal and Tibet (China). I have never seen a world icon, natural or man made, that has impressed me more than Everest and the Himalayas.

Hello Matthew,
It's a pleasure to be among the first to see this spectacular photo. It's not difficult to visualize the folding action in the tectonic plates that created the Himalayas, that continue to grow.
Have a good weekend,
Bulent

Hi Matt,
You had great weather for photography here, and made good use of it. Sagarmatha looks brilliant, not to mention Lhotse and Nuptse. Everything stands out crystal clear at this altitude. The spindrift off Lhotse adds a nice touch.
Regards,
Vince
