coron, a photo from Palawan, Southern Tagalog

Photographer's Note

This is my second Coron posting. How I wish I had brought a tripod with me during this hike. A higher aperture setting would have provided a better DOF.

Coron is a municipality in Palawan. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 32,243 people in 6,264 households. The municipality covers part of Busuanga Island and all of the nearby Coron Island. Both islands are part of the Calamian Group of Islands in northern Palawan. The main industries of Coron are fishing and tourism, being a popular diving location.

The landscape of Coron Island reminds me of Phuket and Phang Nga in Thailand. The island consists of steep limestone cliffs with caves and numerous isolated sandy bays.

Well framed!
I never actually went to Palawan but I agree with the similarities to some locations in Thailand...
The water is pleasantly green here as is the sky wonderfully blue!

this would definitely be my next destination. did you came here via the super ferry? how long did to stay at coron? you are correct, a tripod at f16 would probably make the leaves at the left sharper or you could have used a wider lens 10-22mm for larger depth even at f8

Incredible exotic shot Danilo! The composition is great but what plays the most important role in this pictures are the colours that are really amazing, especially the emerald waters. Great note too! Conratulations!

The sky and the waters are very impressive in the shot. Though the shot lacks sharpness we enjoy the river passing between the mountains.The boat entering into the frame is brillantly caught. I can feel the movement. Great shot.TFS

Hi Danilo. You're right about the DOF being able to be improved. But the beauty shines through just fine. A hint would have been to increase the ISO to give you the ability to use f/16 or so.

Love this view of Coron with wonderful green waters. The shades of greens on the water are sublimely beautiful & this place does remind me of Phang Nga in Thailand, photos of which I'd seen before. Beautiful framing with the cliffs & the foliage...love the way how you've kept the boat in the frame.

A sunny view with a strong view and remarkablr blue colored water that flows between the hills on the side of your frame, pleasant to include this typical boat in the corner.

The colours are great, however there is something wrong with the sharpness. The photo seems a bit blurred for me.

When I was in philippines in beginning of the 80's I always heard about Palawan. Here I see the splendid view of that place, with good POV, light&color contrasts and DOF.

Hi Danilo. I like the contrast between the blue of the sky and the aquamarine of the water. The f8 works fine - I doubt that a higher aperture setting setting would have made much noticeable difference to the DOF in this shot, although by enabling a higher shutter speed, may have given you better sharpness. Hola Danilo,
very nice landscape view with the bluish water to take someone's the breath away.Really the use of a tripod is the best way to take somebody a shot, but sometimes it's difficult to carry it every where, especially during a trek.Excellent the management of the light as the colours too.Well done my friend.
