Photographer's Note
This time I looked at my old pictures from Thailand after the short series from Ayutthaya by Paul and a long one from Bangkok by Miguel.
I visited Thailand. Laos and Cambodia during quite a long trip - five weeks in 2013. It was my first journey father retirement (just being employed, I still work as a freelancer). I went with my eight (!) friends as a tour guide. we visited many places in Thailand. The most fantastic was the Sukhotai. Quite strange that last photos from Sukhotai were posted in 2013.
Sukhothai was the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 14th centuries. It has a number of fine monuments, illustrating the beginnings of Thai architecture. The great civilization which evolved in the Kingdom of Sukhothai absorbed numerous influences and ancient local traditions; the rapid assimilation of all these elements forged what is known as the 'Sukhothai style'.
Originally, Sukhothai was a Khmer empire's outpost named Sukhodaya. During the reign of Khmer Empire, the Khmers built some monuments there, several of them survived in Sukhothai Historical Park.
The area of this park is big, with a lot of temples and Buddha statues. It needs a lot of walking. A better solution is to rent a bike. The problem was, I couldn't ride a bike. (Do you know another one, wrrr). Before the trip, I bought a bike and asked my sons to teach me. I COULD ride but I felt very unsafe. After return, I have never ridden a bike again.
I will upload two pictures as Workshops.

Hello Malgo,
I really enjoyed reading your notes and the problems that you tried to overcome, such as bike riding. They say riding a bike is like swimming, once you have achieved the skill you never forget. I know, when we went to the Netherlands, last year, to meet Viviane and Chris, we did some bike riding, something I had not attempted for many years! The skill did return!
This makes a super main post because of the rich, orange garbs of the monks. They are really well positioned, inside the walls of the temple, where the red bricks co-ordinate so well with the clothes.
The photograph is sharp as well as being so well composed.
When I look at statues, like that of the Buddha, it amazes me at the skill of sculptors, who could produce something like this from a block of stone.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
Unfortunately I didn't get to Sukhothai or the north of Thailand. The corona epidemic forced me to come home earlier.
However, Sukhothai was on my plan. I have no idea how similar it is to Ayutthaya or not but I'v always loved to visit temples and ruins.
The presence of the seven monks clearly makes for a very interesting photo.
It looks like there is a pot of paint on top of the arches :) Right below the two pigeons.
Wonderful architecture of the top of the tower (stupa).
Beautiful giant Buddha statue in the WS.
It seemed to be very calm during your visit, which creates a serene atmosphere.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Malgo,it's really curious that you don't know how to ride a bicycle, too bad, I would have liked to take you on the 30 km track along the Naviglio river that leads from my village to Milan..hahaha ... joking aside, today you show us 3 beautiful memories from Sukhothai, old temples and stupas still well preserved, a must for those who visit Thailand, when I retire I will go me too ... ehehe ..Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Dear Malgo,
You were inspired so much that one could even mistake these photos, with Paul's site. :) Joking apart, its a well-taken photo, just the like the two in WS, which are decent postcards. It's beyond doubt that the main upload is the best, however!
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Malgo,
I was slightly shocked to look at your Thailand gallery and to find this is only your fifth photo, and the first one from Sukhothai. How on earth could you hide photos like these for so many years? This is such a fine view with beautifully matching colours, it could have been from a travel magazine. Nice WS too, but especially this one needed to be dug out of your archive.
Keep digging.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
You have captured well a daily life scene. The point of view is showing the details of the temple and of the walk. The light is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
The orange gawns of the seven monks at the entrance to the old temple edifice, grabbing most attention here.
Well under daylight and shining contrast against the ancient walls.
Good afternoon,

Hello Malgo,
If western woman so close to the monks are, this is for us very nice.
We get a nice detailed picture of the old frontage of the temple.
Nice sharp and clear to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,
John.

Hello Malgo,
A great photo of this monument with lots of different architectural details, like the white pillars, the brick parts and the tower on top. The monks in orange are very well included as well and stand out wonderfully from the surroundings.

Hello MALgo,
Looking at this pictures of Sukhothai reminded me....the struggled I had with the weather. It was scorching hot and humid. Nevertheless, I was spellbound of this historical sites and temple ruins better than Ayutthaya in my opinion.
Because of the heat I decided to share with a couple a 'tuk-tuk with driver' instead of riding a bike to go round the park. At the end of the tour, I went straight in to the hotel swimming pool to cool down.
Nice to see monks in your pictures....as its proved that it's still a holy sacred place for the monks to worship. The two w/s pictures seem very cool with the greenery around the park.
Tfs....Loong

Hello Malgo,
The 2nd time I went to Sukhothai with my mother it was Children's Day and we got a free shuttle bus all around to the various temples. I had more time the 1st trip alone and hired a bike to get around. You were lucky to catch the saffron robed monks. Tfs!

Hello dear Malgo,
What a truly beautiful photograph! And what a sin to keep it locked up and unseen for seventeen years!
the stonework and brickwork of this temple might be in a poor state but the presence of those seven monks in their saffron robes and the glorious warm sunlight as well as your fine composition all make this a stunning photograph which is perfectly complemented by your excellent note. Two wonderful workshop images too - but your main photograph is undoubtedly the absolute jewel!
Wonderful!
You take care.
Kind Regards,
John. xx
P.S. I learned to ride a bicycle years and years ago but I never did a lot of cycling and was always very "wobbly". I don't think I have a very good sense of balance (which might also explain my fear of heights) and I certainly wouldn't even think about riding a bicycle on a road where there were cars, buses and trucks.

Hello, i never visited Sukhothai. That picture would be more successful if we could see the characters' faces closer. These ruins look fascinating to explore. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
