Photographer's Note

Those are fluffy, glossy, golden crusty and freshly baked flat Uzbek bread, the most common kind sold on every street corner throughout the country. Almost everywhere you go you can see bread sellers wheeling round in old-fashioned way, using big-wheeled, strollers or from many make shift stalls.

For the Uzbeks, it's not only their staple food but is considered sacred and more than just food; it's a sign of well-being......

Just a small segment of daily life taken at a lively Krytyy Market in Bukhara.

Hi Abmdsudi,a very good bread, not only the typical Uzbek decorations but an exceptional flavor, I remember having eaten it hot, freshly baked at the Tashkent market and I still have in mind the taste and the scent, thanks for reminding me with this beautiful photo! Those loaves of round bread look really good and tasty and the young man looks very proud of them as well. Their golden colours are well lit and make them stand out really well and clearly.

One thing I did find out with this delicious bread in Uzbekistan is that it should be eaten fresh. Whe some hotels served day old bread it wasn't nearly as good.
