Photographer's Note
Please open each photo in a new tab for the better version.
As with many antiquities in Vietnam all of the Tự Đức tomb complex isn't well maintained and there are large overgrown areas such as in the main photo and the 2 WS photos. There wasn't any good access to the overgrown areas for exploration of what looked interesting other areas.
And re my posting yesterday - somehow the WS photos landed up in my previous photo (Thanks Gert for finding them). My fault or TE's? Probably mine. The WS photos today are definitely where they belong.

Hi Ian,
I understand that as you said the place is not well mainatined but nevertheless the resulting effect is very photogenic. The place combines in an unexpected way the nature and culture. This could have not been planned by a human and the effect is so interesting.
Very well done,
M

Hello Ian,
I don't remember seeing these abandoned and totally overgrown buildings. My thoughts go straight to the Angkor area.

Hi Ian
Strange how this kind of neglected antique buildings overgrown with vegetation have so much charm. The variety of plant species and the vivid tones of green are very appealing and the crumbling architecture speaks of unknown events in the past that made people abandon this place.
My favourite is the image with the door in the wall.
Best wishes
Kasia

we can see the damage of the climate to the monument, it would deserve a restaure faster. nice these images showing the monument and its imposing aspect despite the damages,

Hi Ian,it is a pity that many corners of these tombs are so invaded by the plant world that it tries to regain its space after so many centuries, the photos show what happens perfectly, 3 different views with excellent quality as always. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
Abundant precipitation and a mild climate ensure that monuments quickly become overgrown.
In addition, the necessary money for regular maintenance is often lacking.
But that does have its charm when you visit this place.
In my personal opinion, this really looks very different from, say, the ruins of Angkor Wat.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ian,
Another photo proving that a wet climate is not friendly to buildings. I hope they get some money for the renovation of these buildings before they are completely lost.
Regards,
MT
