Photographer's Note
This is a Date Palm, its located in Cabo Rojo in Pedernales in the South West of the Dominican Republic near the border with Haiti. In cabo rojo there is a mine for producing concrete blocks, also the docks for exporting ferronickel and dor (gold and silver nugget) from the The Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) (it worked from 1959-1983)located in "el hoyo de pelempito" with tropical pine forests in the Bahoruco Mountain Range, with its heights of more than 6,500 feet.
Cabo rojo has white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, just 1 km away from "bahia de las aguilas" considered one of the most beautiful Dominican Beaches and been one of the few in the world who receives every year the four types of sea turtles and manaties. It has an unique environment, with a high level of endemism varying from palm trees to lizards. In the last years there has been a lot of controversy because it belonged to a National Park and some people wanted to sell the bay to build a hotel complex. The nature defendors stepped up against this and "won" the fight for know.

Gorgeous shot. I think the date palm is my fav. palm. I like the placement of the tree so that you can see the clouds as well. The shadow directly under the palm says that its 12:00 or so. Only thing I do not like with the photo is the tire tracks in the sand. What can you do though?
Thanks!
Brian

Hi Ulises,
A simple but effective compo showing the lonely date palm and its short reflection in the sand. The clouds give a sense of dynamism and the water color is great. I Hope this place will remain as a National Park and not to become a touristic place with hotel complex :)
Cheers

Nice capture. Really brings out the idea of paradise. Calm and deserted. Great colours especially of the water. Pristine. Nicely done

Hello Ulises
A wonderful POV on this shot.I like the composition with the curve of the clouds almost circular. The colours are super.Excellent focus .The sun must have been directly overhead, because the shadow circles the tree.A very inviting image.TFS

Greta composition! What an amazing palm tree. Quite different from the usual and here you captured it really well. I like the way you placed it, the colours, the shadow. Greta idea to post this.
