Photographer's Note

The Schlossberg (Castle Hill), at 473 metres (1,552 ft) above sea level, is a tree-clad hill, and the site of a fortress, in the centre of the city of Graz, Austria. The hill is now a public park and enjoys extensive views of the city.
The Schlossberg lies in the center of Graz. The mountain is easily accessible by the Schlossberg funicular that carries the passengers from the foot of the mountain all the way to the top. It is also easily possible to reach the top by walking. A series of steep staircases lead directly to the large clock tower, and a serpentine path on the opposite side of the mountain also leads to the top and ends up in nearly the same place as the stairs.

The City of Graz � Historic Centre and Schloss Eggenberg bear witness to an exemplary model of the living heritage of a central European urban complex influenced by the secular presence of the Habsburgs and the cultural and artistic role played by the main aristocratic families. They are a harmonious blend of the architectural styles and artistic movements that have succeeded each other from the Middle Ages until the 18th century, from the many neighbouring regions of Central and Mediterranean Europe.

A wonderful fragment of the city, captured in a nice and bright sunlight and from an excellent high viewpoint. The tower and bandstand are both nicely placed on either side of the grand architecture of the building in the middle. Well done.

Hello Piotr,
Graz seems to me to be a very beautiful city that is also not often shown on TE.
Between the Uhrturm and the bandstand we get a good view of the city hall, a magnificent building.
Good idea to climb up the Schlossberg for excellent views of the city.
The greenery on the hill gives more colour to this photo of the city center.

Też byłam w Grazu, kilka moich zdjęć jest na nastepnej stronie :). Tam maja trochę dziwny akcent (styryjski). Czasem trudno zrozumieć. Graz bardzo mi sie podobał. Ciekawa jestem, czy widziałes to dziwaczne muzeum.
Fajny ten temat z UNESCO. Może kiedyś też coś takiego zrobie. Wczoraj byłam na demonstracji. Wzruszające. Mało sie nie popłakałam. Moje dzieci tez poszły.

Hello Piotr,
The little brown pavilion surrounded by vegetation is well placed in the lower corner and nicely balanced by the clock tower. Below the hill are lots of fine buildings and red brick roofs. It's a fine view from a good position and you cropped the photo nicely.

Ta czesc Austrii jest mi zupelnie obcea. Pamietam jak kiedys obrazilem kolege ktory tam walsnie studiowal i kiedy go zapytalem Graz? Gdzie to jest? to sie obrazil.
Najwyrazniej sporo tam do zobaczenia,po prostu nie bylo mi nigdy po drodze.
Swietny punkt widzenia oczywiscie. Ta wieza zegarowa wyglada przeciekawie
