Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer another view of this charming village of Hallstatt, I discovered through photos of a fellow this site. I hope you like it, then some letters on the town.

Hallstatt / halʃtat / (Upper Austria) is a village in the mountainous district of Salzkammergut, Austria. It is located near the lake Hallst舩ter See.

Etymologically, the name probably comes from the Celtic Hall term that is called salt, abundant in nearby mines.
The town gives its name to the culture of the so-called Iron Age Hallstatt culture
In 1997, the cultural landscape of Hallstatt-Dachstein was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

Until the nineteenth century the only possibility to reach the village was by boat or by narrow paths. The land between the mountains and the lake was low this little land being occupied by the town itself. Access between the house and the lakeshore was done through an elevated walkway over the attics of houses. The first major road was built in 1890 by the west through the rock.

But in this isolated and inhospitable place one of the first human settlements were established thanks to salt deposits. Some of the oldest finds date from 5000 BC Hallstatt In 1846 Johann Georg Ramsauer discovered a prehistoric cemetery near the present site of the town. The research of Ramsauer continued until 1863, more than 1,000 graves unearthed meticulously from the first to the last. Each tank was measured and drawn before and after being excavated. This study methodology deposits begins a new, more methodical way of performing archaeological studies.

Commercial activity and abundance of resources allowed the development of a highly developed after results of Salzberghochtal culture, was named the Hallstatt culture.

There is to date registered notable events occurred in Hallstatt during the Roman era or early Middle Ages. In 1311, Hallstatt became a commercial city, showing he had not lost its economic value. Today, apart from salt production, which since 1595 is transported in the form of brine about 40 kilometers from Hallstatt to Ebensee through a pipe, tourism plays a major factor in the economic life of the city. They say tourists Hallstatt is the place "of the old pipe in the world", which was built 400 years from 13,000 hollow logs. The land is so scarce that at ten bodies were exhumed from the cemetery to clear land for new graves being moved to an ossuary. A collection of elaborately decorated skulls with the names of their owners, occupations and dates of death inscribed on them are on display in the local chapel.

This looks as a dreamy place, Angel.
Beautiful wooden promenade on the waterfront offer a fantastic view.
The pic. was taken from a very well premeditated perspective, show the small built peninsula stretches out to the lake, and the mountains back d馗or to the whole sight on photo.

Yes, I remember your first photo from Hallstatt. Both photo were taken from the same point of view. I also like this photo, very nice view. This is very provocative picture and I'd love to go away from my home again.

Hello Angel,
Seen from this point of view it looks a bit like this village is floating on the lake. Of course it's a peninsula but I have the impression the houses are built on the water.
Actually it's setting is very spectacular and so wonderful.
Looking at the forested steep slope at the left, there's not that much space to build. So I guess that's a bit the wonder of Hallstatt.

Halstatt is such a wonderful town and I regret that I haven't visited it. Fabulous view,. Splendid composition with the row of houses on the left side and the beautiful church and its reflections. Whhat a joy it must be to go this way near the lake.

Hello Angel,
This is a remarkably beautiful village and lake. The row of buildings along the shore to the left lead my eyes efficiently to the peninsula with the church. I like the balance between the green hillside to the left and the hazy blueish mountains across the lake. It is a very carefully exposed and balanced photo.

Hola Angel,
this place is indeed very famous among photographers, I am not surprised why! You have demonstrated it in all its beauty. The composition is brilliant! I like how the buildings from the left and the hill as well make a nice intro to the central view, the perspective is fantastic. The composition has also two diagonals which meet near that lovely church. Spectacular location, very photogenic and you have perfectly used the opportunity here. The light is also great with the left closer side so clear and sharp and the right side appearing behind a slight fog.
