A Rococo masterpiece, a photo from Tyrol, West

Photographer's Note

This is the magnificent Wilten Basilica in Innsbruck. Wilten is a suburb of Innsbruck, and this is one of two famous Rococo churches there. This basilica was built in 1751-1756. The altar at the back glows with a golden light, and is crowned (appropriately) by a giant crown of gold. The frescoes on the ceiling were done by Matthaus Gunther. In the Baroque and Rococo styles the disciplines of painting, sculpture and architecture are merged into a seamless whole. The church was closed when we went there, but you could enter the foyer and take photos through a large metal grille.

The interior of the basilica is beautiful. The point of view is showing the details of tharchitectur eof the interior of the Witten basilica. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Rococo style is probably the most decorative of all especially inside.
Great capture! I have been to Innsbruck but just shortly so I cannot even tell whether I have been inside this church or not...

I visited this town, but it was a very short moment, I visited only a church with statues inside. this sample of local baroque is amazing. it is curious as each place created its own baroque, it isn't the same in each region. I will post another baroque interior some months ahead.
