Every year around this time of the year we go on a short b&b break with some old friends we really love. This year we went walking in the Flemish countryside south of Ghent and the weather was exceptional.

THIS PICTURE was shot from the (great) B&B we were staying. The B&B is in Vurste really, but the view here is towards Semmerzake. Both are small villages that are part of the community of Gavere, which is half an hour south of Ghent.

If you look closely, you might notice that the sun sets right behind a typical old-style Flemish farmhouse in Semmerzake. Only a silhouette, here. Just like the trees, which are still barren at this time of the year.

Hello Benny,
I couldn't identify the buildings as a typical old-style Flemish farmhouse, But I can identify the colours as quite marvellous (and well saturated) and the tall barren trees as graphically perfect objects. It's quite a stunning photo.

The silhouetted trees are what grab the attention; the silhouetted branches totally bereft of leaves look quite beautiful against that marvellous evening sky. Perfectly exposed and with superb clarity.

Dag Benny,
Hier staat de lucht duidelijk in brand. Zo fel zie het avondrood zelden. Het lijkt wel of de zon een gat brandt in het dak van de boerderij. En dan heb ik het de adembenemende schoonheid van het fijne kantwerk van de bomen nog niet eens genoemd.
